EYE Goes to Marathon

Writer: Bart MarchantBart Marchant

Last week, EYE Class of 2022 visited Marathon Sportswear, a family owned and operated screen-printing business located on Chicago's South Side. For over 30 years, Marathon Sportswear has delivered premium printed apparel and promotional items for schools, charities, corporations, special events, and sports teams. Marathon has conducted business with teams like the Chicago Bears and the main apparel source for the Chicago Marathon.

Led by sales specialist Kristy Allen and CEO Jim, EYE students were able to travel to Marathon's headquarters and received a full tour of the facility. They heard the history, development and ongoing challenges and successes of running a business from a personnel, financial, marketing and customer perspective.

The company had just finished the runs for the World Series hoodies, and while students didn't get to take those home, they did get custom, one-of-a-kind Chicago Hope Academy prints (shown here in the picture). "It was so awesome to learn about a production line from start to finish," said Terry Gordon, a senior in the class.

Needless to say, the trip was clothed with success. We pray this has brightened your day, and until the next time... so long from EYE Class at 2189 West Bowler Street!
